I love learning a language I already have a grasp on. I promote Transformation travel and learning a language is one way to transform yourself. I get happy as my brain works in new ways. I agree that immersion is the best way to become more fluent. I'm torn between French (I had 8 years of French in school and know my grammar and vocabulary; usually when I am in French I can make myself understood, it comes back quickly) and Spanish ( I have little Spanish under my belt but have taken a 2 week immersion course plus a college course) to immerse myself in. Nice post, you whet my appetite for learning. (I do know about the difficulties of ordering in nice French restaurants! LOL

If you want to converse to practice your French without going so far, come visit Quebec City. You will be inspired by the European style of the city. My husband and I will be happy to take you to a restaurant where they don't serve food with tweezers!

Francine, je connais QC; si belle et si intéressante! Mais c’est pas Paris (ou France) et le français qui est parlé est un peu différent.
