Thank you for the pictures. I love travel but my husband does not. So, I love when people travel and share their experiences and pictures. It looks like you are having a wonderful time here.
I'm curious, do you work with an editor for all your Substack posts? Or just for essays? I've been thinking about this lately... A gut check never hurts.
Alexis, yes I work with an editor (so useful). Cf my post tomorrow about my experience “working” with ChatGPT. I’d like to use your example of “creating a recipe” at the end of the post—that okay?
Candy, I did the Experiment in International Living in Germany, the summer of 1970, right before starting college! Lots of memories, including a day trip with our group into East Berlin — very exciting.
Jeffrey, so good to hear from you! I love it when I spend one hour on a post (most of that time searching for good photos) and readers enjoy it. Go figure!
This sounds like a lovely thing to do. Are you a guest of a friend, or is this someone who hosts this endeavor regularly? And yes, Avignon is lovely. I was there in 1958 as a college student, and again in 2015 on a river cruise.
What a great way to learn French! We're doing a 2-week immersion class in Dijon in June. I'm nervous! Also, I love the proposed title for your next post and it's so true. ChatGBT is scary good at flattery.
I love the working title! And I am CONFIDENT in your linguistic capacities--they strike me as a nobly human pursuit against the tides of the translator machine!!
Isabel, thank you! I'm in the homestretch of revising/tweaking/writing my ChatGPT saga; feels good and I feel pretty confident in how I've evaluated the experience.
This sounds wonderful! You are such an inspiration. My fear of flying holds me back, but I’m working on it! Planning a trip to Hawaii in October.
Lynn, go for it!

Sure, go for it! :)
Love Avignon.
Jeanine, it’s kind of the perfect small city, isn’t it?!
It is, very neat, and the wall, so enchanting.
I love this! Would love to reimmerse myself in the French language as I once did. I wrote about that time, fifty years ago this year, on Medium, if you are able to read it. https://medium.com/human-parts/remarkable-life-inspiration-results-from-spreading-your-wings-d6ef09f213aa

That is uncanny! I wondered if we had done something similar based on your recent immersion…amazing!
Lovely post. I have happy memories of my own brief séjour in Avignon, half a lifetime ago.

Sounds lovely, enjoy.
Thank you Paulette! We just landed back in the U.S. so will be treasuring memories of Avignon.
Bonne Chance!
thank you Dee! I need good luck to learn more French
Whoop! What a great way to spend another week in France!
ha ha, oui! it was a marvelous week. miss you already!
Those chickens are fresh! They must have been delish. Yummy food. Beautiful language.
Thank you Carissa! We didn’t actually cook those chickens; I was just mesmerized by their plumes!
Thanks. Found the link.
Profitez-bien!
Merci Caroline!

Diana, we pay Julie; it’s a thriving business for her, and also a lot of work! See the site linked to her name, above.

omg Sacha, this is great feedback! ChatGPT and how to use it, and not use it, is a BIG topic that I'm trying to whittle down...
🎵 "Sur le pont d'Avignon..." 🎵
